I’ve always been a geek.  Just ask anyone I went to school with or any the girls I tried to date.
My obsession with music began at age six when my grandmother gave me a transistor radio—an old Lloyds—which spawned an all-consuming fascination with things that came over airwaves.  A few years later, my uncle—who moonlighted by servicing jukeboxes—kick started my record collection by dumping a box of old 7-inch singles on me one Sunday afternoon.  I was hooked.

Releasing their critically acclaimed debut album, Maybe One Day, in 2002, Not By Choice found themselves on a wild ride of success that included a win at the Much Music Video Awards, two appearances on Much Music's chart-topping Big Shiny Tunes compilations, and too many miles on the road to count over a 14 month period. In 2005, the band stopped touring after the campaign for 2004's Secondhand Opinions, having had three years of sharing the stage internationally with the likes of Avril Lavigne, Simple Plan, Sum 41, New Found Glory, and many others. Not By Choice reunited in 2017 to celebrate the fifteenth anniversary of their first release.

Eve 6 weren’t even legal drinking age when they were presented with their first platinum record. Life came hard and fast at the members of SoCal pop-punk trio, whose meteoric success in the late ‘90s and early millennium ingrained their anthemic radio hits into the fabric of the lives of a whole generation. Then, it all sort of ended…until now. Reunited and re-energized, the band is returning with new album Speak In Code, eight years after parting ways in 2004. The album heralds not just a return to form for the threesome, but a new chapter in a book that had ended all too abruptly.

It’s the sort of music that comes naturally for a band that rehearses in a converted barn. Very consistent with the band’s small town/country worldview and they wouldn’t have it any other way.

Most importantly, for a man prone to bouts of self-doubt, it reassures Moore that his path is a righteous one. “I have a complete sense of calm right now,” the singer-songwriter says. “During this whole journey, as down as I’ve gotten at times, I’ve done this thing my way. Singer Maka Goredema has been singing all her life and loves 80’s music. Bassist Ethan Coleman has been interested in music his whole life and has a passion for Classic Rock. Drummer Ryan Park-Lopes uses his rhythmic abilities to liven up our songs. On keys, Jeremy Ippolito uses his musical experience to add another dimension to our sound. Finally, Guitarist Brendan Reynolds has been playing guitar from a young age and brings a distinct southern style into the band. We love putting on a good show, and together we are Undefined.

He had much to prove, and loved the sound of music, so he quickly learned his way around a wooden instrument known as the guitar, learned to sing from the windy air while walking the earth to his destination in Canada, and then as someone who was never pushed to become someone, he jumped right into the music industry and took on many jobs that helped other musicians get where they needed to be.

It was a hot day. Two cold glasses of lemonade beaded with condensation, echoing the dew forming on the foreheads of two Hamilton musicians. They’d gathered to write a song, but what they didn’t know, is that they were embarking on much greater journey. Shawna Picard and Lauren Campbell formed Loud English out of the desire to step outside of their comfort zones, challenge themselves, and use their creativity to connect with others. What began as a fun pastime, quickly grew into a force, as the pair amassed a collection of songs, with accompanying videos, to share with their friends and family on social media. Praise rolled in for their diverse lyrics, and unique use of time signatures. They were onto something. Peppering their originality with flavourings of classic rock, blues, and soul, Loud English create music that you won’t hear on the radio - and that’s a good thing. The Elwins--singer/guitarist Matt Sweeney, drummer Travis Stokl, guitarist/keyboardist Feurd, and bassist Francesco Figliomeni--came together in 2006 near Newmarket, about an hour north of Toronto. After touring extensively behind 2012's And I Thank You and 2015's Play for Keeps, the band developed a natural chemistry, which continues to propel (and challenge) their collaborative spirit on Beauty Community. There seems to be an overtly upbeat spirit to the songs and a sensitive, inquisitive sentiment within Beauty Community. There's plenty here for Elwins faithful to cling to but also tasteful explorations the community indeed.

Edmonton native Moe Berg watched his father play in country bands while he grew up, and spent his time admiring guitarists like Eddie Van Halen, Jeff Beck and Johnny Winter. In his teens and early 20's he pursued his musical ambitions with area bands like the Modern Minds, Troc '59 and Facecrime. It was in Troc '59 that
he hooked up with drummer Dave Gilby and in 1985, they agreed that the only way to keep going musically was to move to Toronto and try things out there.
